In this old Victorian property with its lathe & plaster walls and ceilings and creaking floor boards we did what is the only proper thing to do when creating a wet room and that is to strip it back to its bare bones and rebuild it using modern and quality materials - always the foundation to a sharp looking job that is to be maintenance free for ever.
The shower is the brilliant Mira Platinum Duo that is digitally controlled for both temperature and for switching between the overhead or riser shower - you can even have a second remote in the bedroom to turn it on to reach temperature before you get out of bed.
The Zehnder towel warming radiator has an electric element inside it so when the central heating is off in the summer the towels can still be warmed - and like the electric underfloor heating it too is digitally controlled for both time and temperature.
The tiles are Ardesie Ivory 80cm x 40cm and you might note how we take the sloped water capture area outside the glass so the glass needn't be siliconed to the floor but can sit just above and so let the water run off and away - far superior to siliconing everything together. Everything is just plain and simple, easy to keep clean and maintenance free.
