A Jack & Jill bathroom is a bathroom with two doors, usually accessible from two bedrooms.
In this project our clients Stuart & Ann Cowgill didn't have the space for the en-suite they'd always wanted yet the family bathroom was tantilisingly close being just the other side of their bedroom wall; so we knocked through and fitted electronic locks to the two doors of the to be shared bathroom and installed an electronic means of locking both doors at the press of a single button. The system provides LED indication of the door lock status outside of the bathroom and importantly ensures that one user cannot vacate the bathroom leaving another 'users' door locked.
Of course that was just a solution to a problem to allow the design to proceed; the overall project included a good deal more.
The bathroom that had previously had a shower cubicle just 80cm x 80cm wasn't big enough to incorporate a good sized wet room concept shower area so one wall was moved 600mm into the bedroom and the wet room became a good size at 1.4M x 1.4M into which we installed a MIra shower that is digitally controlled from a remote so allowing the shower to be turned on and temperature reached before you even get to it.
Digitally programmed electronic underfloor heating was installed and a dummy wall built to house the WC cistern, soil pipe and basin pipework and a frame was built to house a drop in bath before being clad in large porcelain tiles 800mm x 800mm.
Strategically placed cool white LED ceiling downlights highlight every last detail of the workmanship and show the perfection of the large format tiling with all the exposed polished edges (we hate tile trims) in all its splendour.
As you will have just read, this bathroom project impacted on the master bedroom so please see the previous listing in GALLERY for the continueing story.
