The brief from our clients Stuart & Ann Cowgill was to modernise and refurbish the master bedroom and create an en-suite but space was at a premium and we couldn't see a way of getting an en-suite onto an outside wall where we could have a window for light and ventilation (the only proper way to have an en-suite) so we came up with the idea of knocking a doorway through into the family bathroom and installing an electronic door locking system that operated both bathroom doors together.......but all of that can be read about in the next listing in Gallery under the heading Jack and Jill Bathroom/Wetroom.
So back to the bedroom; to optimise wall and floor space we created a recess with storage in the bay window for the bed and bedside tables and where we'd needed to move a wall further into the bedroom for the larger wetroom we created a recess for the chest of drawers and recessed TV.
For the modern look we hung a designer radiator and extra tall walnut veneered internal doors with contemporary chrome fittings but to retain the integrity of the period property we carefully recreated the period skirting boards, picture rails and plaster mouldings and fitted them on the new walls so as a visitor you'd never know structural building work had taken place.
Premium German brand bedroom furniture was supplied; the robes, chest, bedsides and bed all finished in walnut veneer and silk lacquers with Japanese Ash veneer interiors and our decorators finished off the room to the highest of standards with paints & wallpaper .......as the clients said, they couldnt fault the workmanship one bit.
