All Saints Rd, Lytham St Anne's
The room measures 3.7m x 2.8m – so just over 10M2 of floor space into which we needed to fit a compact but highly effective new fitted kitchen for a very busy school teacher, keen cook and Mum with an ever hungry young family.
We bricked up a doorway on one wall and created a cloakroom on the reverse side. This then gave us 3 sides to work with and stopped the kids running round and round the house in circles. We cut out a very undulating floor, levelled and strengthened the joists and re-laid it with marine plywood, we fitted electric under-floor heating and porcelain tiled over. We also fitted a suspended ceiling and packed the void we’d created with 300mm of soundproof insulation to alleviate the problem of early morning and late night kitchen noises disturbing the youngsters sleeping upstairs. This also considerably improved the warmth of the room and killed the echo echo echo echo you get with 9ft high ceilings.
The kitchen units, wall panels and chunky 50mm thick shelves are Keller gloss Vanilla and the worktops are slim 20mm Silestone Marron Jupiter quartz-stone. A glass splash-back adds a bold splash of colour behind the Teka 5 burner Gas hob which has a slim-line telescopic extractor above . Other than the fridge which was already owned the client chose all Teka appliances and so benefits from not only a very competitive price but an unconditional 5 years guarantee on all parts and labour too.
